The Astronomy Department offers the following awards for students enrolled in our graduate degree programs.
- Mr. and Mrs. Hsiang-Pai and Wen-Hua Chu Department of Astronomy Excellence in Research Graduate Student Award
- Lewis E. Snyder Memorial Award
- Graduate Student First Author Publication Award
- Graduate Student Outstanding Teaching Award
GRADUATE STUDENT FIRST AUTHOR PUBLICATION AWARD
Graduate students who have an article, on which they are listed as first author, accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal will receive a $100 award. The award funds may be used for research/professional expenses, such as travel costs, research supplies, and publication charges. Student can submit papers for the award here.
GRADUATE STUDENT OUTSTANDING TEACHING AWARD
Graduate Teaching Assistants who demonstrate excellence in teaching will be eligible to receive a $100 award from the department. Determination of outstanding teaching will be made by the Chair based on the TA's record of student and instructor evaluations. The award funds may be used for research/professional expenses, such as travel costs, research supplies, and publication charges.
